I've always thought this was the case for writing notes. Notes and notes apps have always been referred to my "Brainlog" or my second brain. They are a place I can put my thoughts that I no longer want to actively take the time to remember, or to create a log of activities that I've taken that I would have forgotten anyway. I don't write notes to remember, I write notes so I don't have to.
