What did you expect to happen with contracting M2? It has shrunk approximately to the same ~$500B in Q1.

  I think that would have been accounted for separately, wouldn't it?

    How so? Bank deposits and M2 are correlated quite closely. Usually, bank deposits are equal to 80-90% of M2.
