I only see a couple thousand people actively comment or vote.
- klooney 3y agoThe usual ratio is pretty crazy, like 99 to 1.
- TylerE 3y agoThe way I've usually seen it states is that 10% of your users will comment, and 10% of that 10% will start new threads/posts.
- daemoens 3y agoEasier to just say 10% comment, 1% posts.
- dayjaby 3y agoThat describes my usage pretty well. Dang, no comments from me on the next 9 articles.
- deafpolygon 3y agoCan't comment on 9 in an hour anyways. You get rate-limited on HN. :)
- barefootcoder 3y agoI'm not the one that you responded to, but I had no idea that HN had rate-limiting -- shows how little I comment or post!
- deafpolygon 3y agoYeah, I lurk and comment on here far too much.
- ta_rhdetvd 3y ago[dead]
- icemelt8 3y agowhy should I comment when everyone just downvotes me.
- daemoens 3y agoPeople don't downvote for no reason, especially not on HN.
- tetris11 3y agoThe 1% rule: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1%25_rule?wprov=sfla1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1%25_rule?wprov=sfla1
