Linux power saving settings, compatible with systemd
- _8j50 3y agoI really wish it was easy to disable power saving related stuff on Linux. I spend way too much time trying to find all the right toggles to disable them both in VMs and laptops.
- tetris11 3y agoUse Arch. You'll soon miss those out of the box power saving features on other distros very quickly
- GoblinSlayer 3y agoConfiguring ext4 commit time didn't work for me. It worked as expected, but still something in the system hit the disk every so often. I suspect it's fsync, but how do I find who does it?
- viraptor 3y agodtrace should be able to tell you. See https://docs.oracle.com/en/operating-systems/oracle-linux/dtrace-tutorial/OL-DTRACE-TUTORIAL.pdf https://docs.oracle.com/en/operating-systems/oracle-linux/dt... - there are some examples like counting read syscalls that you could adapt to answer your question.
- nubinetwork 3y agoKDE already forces my systems into power save mode, with no toggle to put it back into performance mode (without using the CLI). It doesn't need systemd to do it either.
