  He makes many good points and knows what he's talking about, but we're not trying to defeat Russia. We're trying to defeat Putin. Russia doesn't want this war.

  That's probably true, and we should probably improve some of the processes. But a Russian attack on NATO is not going to happen, and it's not what we should be focusing on. An actual attack on NATO soil is a worldwide catastrophic event, and has little to do with how many bullets they can pump into soldiers. I just don't see Germany repurposing its train system to support a war that isn't going to come. Our ammo surplus is all going to Ukraine; Russia doesn't have extra resources to put into another war. I don't doubt that NATO could better prepare its infantry. It's never as flexible as it would like to be. But it really sounds as if this guy is preparing to fight the last war.
