I don't think setting the network to private would fix problems from using ".local" for your domain like the article mentioned. You'd have to disable multicast

I don't think setting the network to private would fix problems from using ".local" for your domain like the article mentioned. You'd have to disable multicast DNS on every new computer you got to make sure your local names would resolve correctly. The point is you can't count on those other names like .lan, .home, .etc to not get set up for some special protocol in the future.
