I'm still frustrated I hit a hard crash to desktop problem in my late-game save and never ended up beating Arcanum. One of these days I'll get around to actually pushing over the early-game hump in the fan patch, I've had several abortive attempts. Arcanum remains one of my favorite RPGs.

Hah, I had the same problem! Unfortunately quite a few of Tim Cain's games have been rather buggy on release (Vampire bloodlines, Fallout, Temple of Elemental Evil) and extensive community fixpacks exist for them. I like a lot of his work, but a lack of "polish" was always his weak point.
