Whether you think it's an extinction risk or just a problem in the wrong hands, both concerns ultimately seem to require strong regulation. Very unpopular around here ("you can't ban matrix multiplication"!) but hard to envision how a laissez-faire approach can hold bad actors in check if their abilities are amplified with such models. Will be interesting to see how global policies develop to deal with it. Probably something pretty bad will happen at some point and then the regulations will overshoot their goal.
