Tests indicate Chinese firm's ‘home-grown’ chip is a rebadged Intel CPU
- mytailorisrich 3y agoIf it indeed is how does that work? Do they buy chips from Intel and then somehow erase and reprint the labels on the chips? Found a side by side pic, and they really look identical externally: https://wccftech.com/china-powerstar-x86-cpus-confirmed-rebadged-intel-10th-gen-comet-lake-chips/ https://wccftech.com/china-powerstar-x86-cpus-confirmed-reba...
- NickC25 3y agoHonestly.....was anyone expecting anything less? China does this all the time. Anyone else remember their first home-grown browser that was actually just a reskinned fork of Chrome?
- Havoc 3y agoI recall seeing this story on some youtube tech channel a week or two back. Don't recall what channel unfortunately. The surprising part back then seemed to be more on the claimed volume of available chips than the tech itself
