Where "dropped" means "added", not "removed".
- QuercusMax 3y agoHaven't looked up the etymology, but I've usually heard it in reference to the recording industry. I assume it either refers to dropping a record on a platter / needle onto a record, or "dropping off" new releases at a record store.
- shultays 3y agoIn a software industry it implies dropping/removing a feature though
- QuercusMax 3y agoBut users of Photoshop aren't primarily software engineers. Those in creative pursuits are probably more familiar with the music-derived term.
- rrrrrrrrrrrryan 3y agoYes, historically, but the term is context dependent now. For example, Google widely advertises that its Pixel phones get big "feature drops" every few months.
- shultays 3y agoI guess language is evolving, it is interesting "feature drop" would have the opposite meaning for some people
