I know nothing about generative fill, but several of the examples look like cropped photos. Could they be cropped photos with the original in the dataset, making them far less jaw dropping?
- kossTKR 3y agoNo, these are just bad examples. For much more impressive examples with no crops, check out: https://twitter.com/mrgreen/status/1663107572902027265 https://twitter.com/mrgreen/status/1663107572902027265
- rozab 3y agoInteresting stuff, it's weird how sometimes it nails the tone and context but sometimes fails completely. With the Beatles it generates a psychedelic scene and an actual yellow submarine from what is really a very mundane street scene, indicating the model has 'knowledge' of who the Beatles are and what their aesthetic is. With Master of Puppets, it utterly fails to determine the tone or even content of the scene.
- rchaud 3y agoConsidering MoP isn't exactly an obscure record, it bodes ill for the future if generative art biases towards hyper-popular pop culture because it cannot represent less mainstream art in a convincing way.
