One thing that nicely threads the needle between "he's just a witness in the AG" and "he was sued by amazon in a separate matter," is if he lives in a state other than California, and Amazon had to file a special matter in his home state in order to enforce the subpoena issued in the California case. It's confusing, given what information he provided, and I'm not really clear what's going on.
