Purism Librem Server v2 Announced: $2999 USD for a 9th Gen Core I3 with 16GB RAM
- theandrewbailey 3y ago> Those looking to spend $3k+ on a server focused on security/freedom also could look at the various POWER9-based Raptor Computing options that are fully open-source and more open than any current x86_64-based server option. A $3,000 Raptor would probably be faster than that i3. https://www.raptorcs.com/content/base/products.html https://www.raptorcs.com/content/base/products.html
- josephcsible 3y agoDepending on your workload, of course. If you have to run something proprietary that you only have an x86_64 binary for, the slowdown of having to run it inside qemu would more than make up the difference. And even if you do have the source, it's not uncommon for programs to have highly optimized assembly for x86_64 and only a slow C fallback when compiling on other architectures.
