Bad by Design: The World of Intentionally Awful User Interfaces
- 8organicbits 3y ago"Make a sound at the volume you want" is sort of interesting as it avoids mapping desired loudness to a percentage of the maximum loudness the computer's speakers can output. Making that sound may be awkward, accidentally dropping something loudly while setting the volume could be cause it to be far too loud. I think there's another model of "how much louder should the volume be than background noise". Like, I want to hear the TV but background noise is intermittently disrupting me. Although imagine getting a phone call and having your TV shout over you as you search for the remote.
