Price caps are a horrible compromise. The way it was used last year to rein in spiralling energy costs caused several smaller companies to go out of business. In the far more competetive food market i can't see how it wouldn't be ruinous to small shops. As usual it seems like a typically short sighted and badly concieved decision of the tories. I wonder at this stage if they can come up with a single original idea.
A much better idea would be to scrap vat. Everyone will suddenly be 20% better off.
