What does "saskatchewanesque" sound like, Corner Gas?
- zerbinxx 3y agoNot familiar with the reference but I would describe it as similar to the classic Midwest/Minnesota/Wisconsin “ohyooobetcha” parody, but more dour/deadpan in delivery, and almost with a lilt. People from Saskatchewan would say Saskatchuwun, “we are” becomes “were” exclusively, “you” becomes “yeh” (as opposed to classic Midwest “yuu” or “yah”). I’ve had people tell me, and noticed it in other children-of-Montanans, that it’s reminiscent of a Scottish/Irish manner of speaking, which makes sense as my great great grandad emigrated from Ireland to Butte in the 1800’s, as did many Irish people at the time.
