It make total sense to me. You can always hope the talented become more industrious and hard working but not that the hard working become more talented. There is no upside.
- omoikane 3y agoA similar idea might be that one can just find someone else to work harder, but one can't easily find another genius. In other words, people who only work hard seem more replaceable, hence the bias to hire or promote people who seemed naturally talented.
