Please use metric. It's the 21st century now.
- xxpor 15y agoA lot of engineering in the US (especially civil) still uses standard. Believe me, I would prefer metric because it makes calculations 100x easier, but there's a lot of legacy stuff out there.
- tripzilch 15y ago"Standard"? Isn't it called "imperial"? It's not standard if there's only one industrialized country left in the world that uses it :)
- bwarp 15y agoIndeed. Although here in the UK, I find it frustrating that whilst we use metric for literally everything, we use MPH and miles for distance. It's illogical. If I utter kilometers to anyone, they look at me funny. I spent 5 years training myself to unlearn imperial in about 1990.
- tripzilch 15y agoUK friend of mine told me he's a big fan of kilometers, "because you got more of them" :-D
- xxpor 15y agoIn engineering circles, it's called standard.
- meatsock 15y agocorrection: metric would make calculations 1 hecto-x easier
- lacamu 15y agoHell, it's the 21st century now, I'll use Google: "700 foot-pounds = 9.49072564 × 109 ergs" Somehow I don't think that helps. Are you happy now?
- bwarp 15y agoYes - thank you :)
