It's a good spell checker too.
Not as good as Antidote, which I still pay for, but it's more about the UI than anything else.
However, the advice it gives to improve my writing style are underwhelming. I'm sure they are useful for people that don't write often, but if you do, you have developed a sense of the quirks you can get away with, and it's part of your identity.
Fixing them is not an improvement.
- AHOHA 3y agoIs Antidote the best checker out there? I’m guilty of having a lot of typos as I usually write my thoughts quickly, it would help to have a second hand there.
- BiteCode_dev 3y agoThe best, I don't know. The best I've ever tried, certainly. Expensive, but professionally well worth it. And it works in Thunderbird, VScode, LibreOffice, Firefox...
- AHOHA 3y agoThanks! Any info about their privacy policy? I remember similar tool before caught sending all texts processed to the cloud, or is locally done?
- BiteCode_dev 3y agoThe old version, antidote 9, used to work offline, so I keep it religiously in my hard drive to work in a plane or on things under NDA. Integration with 3rd party doesn't work anymore, but the stand alone spell checker works. After that (currently running 11), it's all in the cloud, and open a web browser page every time, and you get the privilege to pay a recurring contract on top of that. Now I get why they are doing this, it's hard to make a living selling software, but it's clearly a downgrade. However, it's still worth it to me, especially for professional documents or articles on https://bitecode.dev https://bitecode.dev
