FBI claims it ‘misused’ surveillance tool over 270k times between 2020-2021
- godelski 3y ago> An unsealed document shows the FBI supposedly “misused” a surveillance tool over 270,000 times from May 2020 to January 2021. So, the second half of 2020. That's a large number for such a short period of time. But there needs to be a better link than this website. It is far too politically charged and biased.

- chomp 3y agoThere's so many articles on the internet from more reputable sources than this site, implying that no one else is publishing the news is wrong. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/05/newly-public-fisc-opinion-best-evidence-why-congress-must-end-section-702 https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/05/newly-public-fisc-opin... https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/19/us/politics/fbi-violated-surveillance-program-rules.html https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/19/us/politics/fbi-violated-... https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/05/19/fbi-digital-surveillance-misuse-jan6-blm/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2023/05/19/... https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/05/fbi-misused-foreign-surveillance-law-280k-times-to-snoop-on-people-in-the-us/ https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/05/fbi-misused-fore...
- godelski 3y agoYeah I'd suggest the EFF one, as it is probably the least politically contentious and most aligned with HN (being highly computer oriented). Maybe Dang can change the link and/or mike can resubmit.
