The "capital class" in US is mostly people who invest in their 401k and just get pensions from pension funds, whereas the "serfs" in context of meta are engineers who earn what, $400k per year?
How come serfs are richer than the capital class?
- loeg 3y agoMost Meta employees do not earn $400k and the layoffs today are concentrated among non-developers.

This is a place where 400k/year won’t buy you a nice house. Chris Rock explained the difference well when he said, “Shaq is rich, but the white man that signs his check is wealthy.”
