Thin Film Patterns
- waiquoo 3y agoOh wow, this is really cool. I've seen the exact patterns under 'thin film buckling' (Ziebert et al., “Strongly buckled square micromachined membranes,” J MEMS 8 423-432, 1999) when fabricating ~25nm x50umx50um thick, edge-supported, square membranes of SiN. It always seemed a little crazy that something so delicate could distort that much and remain intact.

- dendrite9 3y agoI'm glad I took the enthusiasm from the other posts as a reason to read the link. Very cool stuff. Some of the patterns remind me of pellicles that form during fermentation in beer and on top of other ferments. https://www.thebeveragepeople.com/how-to/beer/articles/home-brewing-wild-and-sour-beers.html https://www.thebeveragepeople.com/how-to/beer/articles/home-... And some smocking patterns also seem similar in a way: https://www.instagram.com/p/B4EN-UoJOOE/ https://www.instagram.com/p/B4EN-UoJOOE/
