I know `pip search` has been disabled with PyPI for a while now due to a constant deluge of requests overwhelming the backend. Knowing that, and seeing this update, makes me think that PyPI is subject to an exceptional volume of malicious activity. Does anyone know if it's true that PyPI receives more abuse than similar projects and, if so, why?
