This article seems weird. Omegaverse is quite well-known as fandoms go[0], so it seems like exactly the kind of thing you'd expect an AI trained largely on web content to know about. And if there's any doubt you could always check common-crawl, and surely find it there. So why the "caught red handed" stuff?
It seems like TFA's author wanted to write an article about the ethics of training AIs on open sources without permission, and included a bunch of stuff about kink fandom just to be salacious.
[0] It went somewhat viral a few years ago when several of its authors, having gotten popular enough to publish paper books, started suing each other for plagiarism and lots of media coverage ensued.
- mcphage 3y ago> Omegaverse is quite well-known as fandoms go[0] I think this article was written for people who aren’t familiar with any fandoms: https://xkcd.com/2501/ https://xkcd.com/2501/
- fenomas 3y agoI was suggesting that TFA's author should know that the red-handed stuff doesn't make sense, not that its typical reader should.
- tourmalinetaco 3y agoHell, I’m rather experienced on the fandom side of things and the term “Omegaverse” was completely foreign to me. I think I’ve only ever seen it as A/B/O.
