It is just an artifact of the Euclidean distance. If one tries a different metric, the story would be different. It should not be that surprising.

- hgibbs 3y agoIf you want to work in a Hilbert space (i.e. have angles) then you are stuck with the euclidean metric up to scaling of the axes.
