What bothered me most through the pandemic was how they treated us all as some homogenous group. It was obvious to me that some people I knew had a harder time with masking because of increased anxiety. And I linked this to the higher CO2.

"As hypothesized, we found that compared with baseline and ‘normal’ air, inhalation of air enriched with 7.5% CO2 significantly increased negative affect, state anxiety/fear, symptoms of panic, and cardiovascular measures of systolic blood pressure and heart rate. Conversely and as expected, CO2 inhalation also significantly reduced state happiness. "
- AstralStorm 3y agoBut the air was measured to be generally 0.5% enriched in CO2 for FFP2/3 masks with peak of 2.5-3.2% in some (lower quality) N95, as they mention in their own. The conclusion thus does not follow, and the author is pushing some anti-masking agenda. mmHg values are quite secondary. Obviously someone so sensitive to CO2 would have to wear a portable powered respirator/oxygen concentrator with CO2 capture filter anyway, as the smoke from cars driving would wreck them.
- FollowingTheDao 3y agoAre you pushing a pro-masking agenda? The level of enrichment does not matter if the sub-group is vulnerable enough.
