I had some Japanese knotweed attempt to mess with my yard. Luckily even the knotweed is not exempt from laws of physics so after keeping it cut down for a while it gave up. It can be a problem if you can't prevent it from setting up foliage. At least it's somewhat edible, and the dry stalks have airtight sections that explode if lit - kids love it.
