LCD is still superior for durability and max brightness. I'd still prefer LCD for expensive tablets because it will be used over 6 years, unlike phones. Early OLED phones were bad for burn in. I heard that iPhone X OLED has more chance to get burned in compared to later models.
- cubefox 3y agoBurn in for smartphone OLEDs has long ceased to be a problem. It certainly wasn't a problem anymore for the iPhone X, even if later models are even more durable. Regarding of tablets: I have a 2017 Galaxy Tab S3, very heavily used. The screen is still basically flawless. Physical wear is only visible when the whole screen shows a very dark grey uniform image, which happens approximately never. The brightness isn't an issue either, in my experience. LCD does use less power on average, particularly on websites (which are typically bright) or PDFs, but smartphones have rather small screens anyway and tablets have a quite large battery.
