IIRC, Link's Awakening is a sequel to Link to the Past, Majora's Mask to Ocarina of Time, A Link Between Worlds also to Link to the Past (more of a proper sequel perhaps, the Japanese title has a 2 in it even).

But I think Spirit Tracks is a sequel to Phantom Hourglass, which may have been a sequel to Wind Waker? Edit: I looked this up, and this is the case. Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to Wind Waker, you play the same Link. Spirit Tracks is 100 years in the future but still a sequel, you play a new different Link but it's the same world. Also Zelda 2 is unquestionably a sequel to Zelda 1 The Zelda timelines are super weird, no question, but it's absolutely loaded with sequels. I have no idea what this writer is talking about.
