I read an opinion that the TCL community was divided into two factions. One faction wanted a lua like small embeddable interpreter. The other wanted a full feature Python like platform. Neither faction won, so TCL got stuck in the middle. I don't know if this is true, but it was such an interesting opinion, that it stuck with me.
