I think the key distinction here is that those are valid concerns to have when you have a device/service that starts getting its own agency.
In your example, if I was buying a car that had agency in the form of full-service drive I don't think it would be unwarranted to have disclaimers that it would follow all applicable laws and wouldn't nonchalantly take out pedestrians.
