Verizon’s new plans make sense to nobody except Verizon
- JoshGlazebrook 3y agoSo they lost 127,000 postpaid customers in Q1 and then decide to go forward with these plans which unbundle everything from their plans while maintaining the same prices. Then have the nerve to charge you $10/month on top of the plan price for the bundled items their old plans already included. And their CMO announced their departure days ago... I don't think it's a coincidence. They must of had so much money put into marketing for these horrible plans it was too late to cancel it. It smells like they forced this exec out. T-Mobile is eating their lunch with their midband 5G deployment and overall value for customers.
- donmcronald 3y ago> The plans may be new, but they’re part of the same old game the wireless carriers in this country love: create new plans, make them more expensive in a way that’s difficult to understand, and then push customers onto the new plans by dangling free phones in front of them. We get the same in Canada. We have 3 big companies with a bunch of sub-brands to create the illusion of competition. The pricing everywhere is (by total coincidence) extremely homogeneous when you calculate the total cost of ownership with a phone factored in. Of course there are a few brutal plans mixed in to make people feel like they “found a deal”. Without the obfuscation and deceit it would become very clear how badly we’re being ripped off. Id love to see mandated, low cost, slow data, minimal talk time, unlimited texting, and call display plans. That would at least give people the option to opt out of the shenanigans and make do with minimal service.
