Sam Altman has made the full character arc
- jiveturkey 3y agoyeah sorry, that is a statement about leadership and responsibility to make the "tough decisions", like going to war, or deciding who the winners and losers are when deciding a budget that everyone contributed to via taxes. NOT a statement meant to whitewash VC playbooks.
- darkerside 3y agoNo... it's a line from a terrific movie called The Dark Knight, and it's about the ease with which public perception is manipulated.
- hanniabu 3y agoThis has nothing to do with perception being manipulated
- darkerside 3y agoThe story does not, but the quote does
- edgyquant 3y agoNo, that line is specifically about Julius Caesar being appointed by the Senate as dictator and then never giving up his power. Though I agree it seems to fit here. Being granted an oligopoly in the name of protecting the people and all that.
- darkerside 3y agoSource? I'm going to need a receipt for my downvote! Here's mine: https://movies.stackexchange.com/questions/10572/is-this-quote-originally-from-the-dark-knight https://movies.stackexchange.com/questions/10572/is-this-quo...
- edgyquant 3y agoI’ve seen the movie, and it’s in response to Rachel saying “the last dictator they appointed was named Caesar, and he never gave up his power.” I also didn’t downvote you, and it’s against guidelines to bring that stuff up
