is this justice delayed
- JohnFen 3y agoThis is a demonstration of how money affects justice. Normal people would be waiting for their appeal date in the jail cell rather than on the beach.
- iinnPP 3y agoSpecifically the least comfortable cell possible in the most violent county possible.
- throwaway81523 3y agoAnyone remember Enron CEO Ken Lay? Convicted of 6 counts of conspiracy and fraud, appealed, died of heart failure while the appeal was pending and while awaiting sentencing. Court ruled that since he was dead without being sentenced (formal record of conviction is entered when the sentence is handed down), the conviction was abated (didn't count). So his estate got to keep $43.5 million in assets that he otherwise would have had to pay out to his scam victims.
- ftxbro 3y agoto me that sounds like some "Pentangeli looks at Hagen; he understands" stuff
- unmole 3y agoSunny Balwani has more money but is already in prison.
