Altman Concerned About AI Being Used to Compromise Elections
- scrum-treats 3y agoZuckerberg: "nothing to see here..." I will say, I am relieved to see Altman being forthright about the very serious concerns we face in the near future as a result of AI advancements (e.g., compromised elections and supply chain, wiping out of hundreds of thousands of jobs). I agree, rules and guidelines are needed. And it needs to be a global effort. The issue is that there's greed and power happening. Is there room for altruism when there's a new "cold war"/"race to the top" by the billionaire class? I dunno. What does regulation look like even? And, how long will it actually take? The government is notoriously slow, due to infighting, bureaucratic red tape, and general lack of expertise in the area of AI/AGI. That push for a 6-month hiatus doesn't seem so far-fetched now. Here's to hoping for a future, with humans in it.
