I'm totally fine with buying a TV that's default OS includes ads when connected to the internet if it means the price of the TV is subsidized and I don't have to sign some kind of agreement that requires I don't modify the TV in anyway/always have it powered on and connected to the internet. Honestly, even using the default smart TV OS in most cases isn't really that obtrusive. I don't do it anymore but when I did I really didn't mind.
