The Industrial Hammer Complex
- ftxbro 3y agoThey are using the 'if you have a hammer everything looks like a nail' cliche and then just complaining about things. For different situations are other more appropriate or specific sayings or metaphors, but if all you have is a hammer...
- bediger4000 3y agoThis sort of thing has been true for years and years. In 1989, everything was supposed to become Object Oriented. In 1993, we were all supposed to port to The Best Designed OS ever, Windows NT. In 1996, Java was write once and run everywhere. In 2003, XML would solve all our problems. I forget when that maturity model forced all kinds of ceremony on us. Heck, there was a "Personal Software Process" that allowed hobbyists to weigh themselves down with meaningless documentation. UML, spiral development, agile Xtreme Programming... Ugh. I've always blamed this progression of false idols on IBM, Microsoft and consultants need to find things for clients to pay them for.
