I'm not being dismissive of the technology, the initial NeRF papers that came out were really interesting and showed something new.
It's this particular paper that I don't find that interesting given the amount of data they had to work with and very specialized hardware setup.
- gorkish 3y agoFair criticism, but there's not a lot of other foundational work in this space either; they need to capture and compute the "ground truth" in order to train and evaluate their models. That requires a lot more data than is used by the NeRF reconstruction.
