I have some contacts, mostly past colleagues, that are most easily reached via LinkedIn messages. And occasionally I have someone get in touch with me that way, although my contact info is easy to find so I doubt I'd miss anything inbound it I didn't have it. And sometimes for business reasons I like to look at the cv of someone I'm going to be talking with. The actual quality of the "discourse" on there is horrible and it would be better off if it wasn't there.
