Even the article said it, the entire vetting process is voluntary. There is just a single checkbox to verify you aren't doing anything illegal and that is it. The current security measures are already effective enough. Vet the buyers' identity. These machines should only be sold to verified labs, not personal ones. And disallow reselling. DNA is not so scary without all the other stuff that allow it to turn into proteins.
