My personal belief is that there are a lot of people/politicians who actually want to help their nation. I don't know how new it is that we have so many absolutely mercenary interests in government that are both popular & deeply deeply cynical, are there for exploitation of the people & power. But i want to think their prominence is not the norm in Democratic systems.
