Given that resources will almost always be constrained, satisfaction serves no purpose. Striving for more food, more status, more connection is always more useful practically speaking than being satisfied with what you have. In fact, the question “why aren’t people satisfied?” Assumes that there’s any particular reason why people would be happy. Fully Satisfied people lose their strongest motivations. There’s not much evolutionary pressure to ensuring that people can stay happy or stay satisfied.
