So, everyone's favorite is the one they built themselves?
- mherrmann 3y agoMaybe that's the power of ChatGPT. That it is so adaptable to very individual use cases that people can apply to it to precisely their context.
- unshavedyak 3y agoBased on how easy it can be to write ChatGPT Plugins when GPT can write them for you, i could see this becoming more and more true.
- H8crilA 3y agoI think that's the big success of GPT. Imagine if you asked "what's your favorite type of a Google query", nearly everyone would have a different answer. In particular a substantial percentage of Google queries are only ever asked once.
- Mistletoe 3y agoYeah that was a red flag takeaway for me from this thread. How much of the AI hype is someone trying to sell me on something they made or will profit from?
- williamcotton 3y agoTake a look at your sibling responses. In contrast you’ll have a working definition of cynicism.
- interleave 3y agoYup! At least for me, I wanted ChatGPT to be native and keyboard-first :)
- unshavedyak 3y agoGot an example of it? I too want a nicer UX around my ChatGPT Plus sub (ie not API based). Frankly a cli version that could pipe into my code editor (Helix) would be amazing.
- washadjeffmad 3y agoPractically. Or at least, will be. I don't have all my chips on it, but I've been working on jupyter and langchain tooling. This feels remarkably like when we were arguing over scrypt vs bcrypt and used to benchmark our GPUs by seeing how many dozens of bit/litecoins we could generate in a night. In four or five years, we won't recognize the world we're living in today.
- chankstein38 3y agoSeriously.. This just turned into a "Show HN" comment section. Half of the ones I've seen are like "Still in early development"
- tornato7 3y agoYes, because GPT-powered services are usually just lousy abstractions over the OpenAI API, and implementing them for your own custom niche will work much better. For example, I tried Otter's meeting summarizer, and it was incomprehensible, but when I implemented it myself with GPT-4 I got stellar results.
- muzani 3y agoI saw someone's workflow where they taught it to make its own shorthand language. Interestingly everyone ended up with their own shorthand, and yet the GPT-4 was able to understand all the individualized stuff just fine.
