Do people have mental bandwidth to learn about stuff not directly related to their day-to-day tasks? In my experience, in a coding job, I'm typically overwhelmed by the mountains of minutia that the codebase entails. I'd prefer to perfect my knowledge of the code base instead of listening to some talk, that I might as well find on youtube.
