I don't understand this tweet. The risk of what? If $x is such a risk, why is he investing $124M into the tech? Who are the investors? WTF does 'informing the planet' mean?

The risk of AI development leading to something truly nasty. He's investing because his work isn't the risk. Putin's is. There are three possibilities from his point of view: ① Noone develops AI ⇒ no risk. ② Putin does ⇒ major risk. ③ Both Putin and he does ⇒ the same or less risk. (The risk is the same if Putin has unlimited resources for development, less if Putin and he have to share the income from early products and use that to fund further development, so that his work diminishes Putin's ability.)
