The author is a friend of mine who runs two coworking centers in the Detroit area. She lives with her husband, another successful entrepreneur, in downtown Detroit. I admire her that in addition to running her company she still keeps writing. For a little background East Detroit is the worst part of the city. All she had to say was East Detroit and you knew her late grandmother was a tough old lady. Today there's a lot more farming being done all over the city and even in East Detroit you can see evidence, if you look closely, that the city is starting to slowly come back.
