Can you name some examples of these bias issues?
- mellosouls 3y agohttps://thecritic.co.uk/the-left-wing-bias-of-wikipedia/ https://thecritic.co.uk/the-left-wing-bias-of-wikipedia/ is an example of coverage that comes up if you google it, even Wikipedia acknowledges it grudgingly. The problem is IMO probably down to the natural demographic of Wikipedia editors drawn to those sorts of pages (cf. academic liberal bias, and - in the opposite direction - the police draw more conservative types). It's unlikely an easy problem to solve but the point is that Wikipedia is in no position to parade on the issue.
- adamors 3y agoConservative magazine calling for left wing bias. Boy, what an original take.
- rpgbr 3y agoYour criticism of Wikipedia relies on it deprecating sources such as Breitbart? This seems like a non-issue for me — a propaganda outlet that really shouldn't be taken serious by anyone.
- mellosouls 3y agoI think you may have misread the article. The point made with the sources like Breitbart is the imbalance between left and right when deprecating, not that Breitbart is a particularly worthy source that has been unfairly served.
- rpgbr 3y agoI guess I didn't. An alternative, better reasoning is that, right now, right wing media has more untrustworthy outlets than left.
- mellosouls 3y agoYou misrepresented what the article was saying - I was being polite in suggesting it was a misreading. Even if the article is wrongheaded, the alternative interpretation for you having done that is wilful misrepresentation due to whatever motivation or skewed perspective - which is part of the problem the article tries to address.
