The title begs the question, how do you compile Rust with MSVC?
- jamesmunns 3y agoMSVC is the default compiler backend for Rust on windows. You can also switch to use GCC tho: https://rust-lang.github.io/rustup/installation/windows.html https://rust-lang.github.io/rustup/installation/windows.html
- ben-schaaf 3y agoUnless you're using one of the gcc rust compiler reimplementations it only ever uses LLVM. MSVC can't compile rust, and the rust compiler can't use MSVC to compile things. What rust & LLVM support is various ABIs on windows, meaning your rust code can link windows libraries (and the other way around).
