I prefer to believe things because they're true, rather than because they're convenient. You can indeed avoid a lot of awkward moral dilemmas by simply declaring yourself more morally deserving by definition, but in doing so you leave the path of morality entirely. And in that case, why stop at the human species? You can avoid even more moral dilemmas by declaring yourself inherently superior to other humans. I believe this is popular amongst the billionaire set.
