I mean I maybe understand why a CEO would want to blame bad numbers on something external, but it's surely the worst possible call to blame it on 'this new thing that's changing everything'. It's almost an admission that you're being swept away.
- mpalczewski 3y agoThey had bad numbers and the ceo went, fuck the stock price, I need everyone to know this wasn’t my fault. I had no faith in management after that. I sold all my chgg stock.
- CamperBob2 3y agoSo you'd have had more faith in the CEO if he had conjured a lot of smoke and mirrors to explain that nothing systemic was happening to their business and that there is nothing to worry about going forward? Selling is likely to be the right move, but blaming the CEO?! There is literally nothing he can do in the near term to avoid losing users to ChatGPT-like services. Their business is likely doomed if they don't already have a rabbit in their hat.

- akira2501 3y agoOr, you've mismanaged the business so thoroughly and have such negative reviews you wish it looked like you were being swept away. It'd be a convenient yarn to spin to concerned shareholders, anyways.
